Yayy!! The day has finally come!! Since the first installment of Friday, in 1995 the cast had their viewers hooked! The film takes a look at one single Friday in the life of two friends, Craig Jones (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker),
in the urban city of Los Angeles. Craig has recently been fired from his job while
attempting to collect his check, as he was allegedly caught on camera
stealing cardboard boxes from UPS, although he claims innocence.
Throughout the day, friends and local neighborhood characters pass
through, including the hulking neighborhood bully Deebo (Tommy Lister, Jr.). The rest was history!
5 years later, in 2000, Next Friday premiered and got even more buzz than its previous movie. This time Craig (Ice Cube) goes to live in Rancho Cucamonga, California to get away from South Central as Deebo (Tom Lister, Jr.) has escaped from prison and he started smoking weed, with his Uncle Elroy (Don "D.C." Curry) and cousin, Day-Day (Mike Epps), when Deebo goes back to prison. Who could forget Day-Day! Mike Epps' memorable character whom we've all come to know and love!
5 years later, in 2000, Next Friday premiered and got even more buzz than its previous movie. Sooner than later, in 2002 the next installment came out, casually titled Friday After Next. In this crazy third, the dynamic pair are robbed by ghetto Santa early in the morning. Only in the 'hood right?! They expanded the cast and made room for the hilarious Katt Williams, who's character is a pimp, naturally. The movie was accepted as the third and final installment of the Friday series.
The crew then decided to put out a cartoon series titled, Friday: The Animated Series. Unfortunately the series was short lived with only one season that consisted of 8 episodes.
My guess is that the temptation for a fourth movie was too strong! So strong in fact, that the crazy crew has come back for what seems o be one last hoorah! I can tell you that there are millions just waiting diligently for the premier of this movie, said to be sometime summer 2013.
There are no plots out yet, not even rumored ones! But don't worry, you know ya girl will keep you updated with each move this production makes!
