First, I have to tell you guys that one of my sisters and I actually read the books, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. With that being said... we all know that unfortunately movies aren't the exact replica of the novel itself, but more of a universal gist.
The movie opened with a mixture of scenes from the novel piled into one seemingly story. Already the movie is nothing like the novel. -_- The movie continued on like this until the end. To be honest, it was quite frustrating. I've read the book and am now expecting one thing to happen when either they've cut the scene entirely or they hodgepodge'd it butchering different scenes and sticking them together. I was disappointed.
Difference: In the very beginning of the novel, Katniss is waking up to a cold side of the bed where Prim should be, but isn't. Prim has had a bad dream, no doubt, and went to sleep with their mother. As Katniss begins her day she finds the usual things, like the goat cheese Prim leaves for her. In the movie, this scene is NON-EXISTENT.
Difference: In the novel, Katniss receives the mockingjay pin from the Mayor's daughter, Madge, and kept it since. In the movie, Katniss finds it among Greasy Sae's piles of things and asks what it is. After being told it was a mockingjay, she requested the price, only to have Greasy Sae tell her to just take it. Eventually Katniss gives the pin to Prim, telling her that for as long as she has the pin, nothing bad will happen.
Difference: In the novel, Katniss reflected on a time when she and Gale were hunting in the woods, when suddenly a hovercraft materializes and then there are the two escapees running, and look to Katniss and Gale for some kind of help. In the movie, the scene is shown in the beginning, as if it were just happening but neither of the escapees are shown. The hovercraft just slowly moves away.
Difference: In the novel, at the reaping Haymitch is late and clearly very drunk, falls off the stage and everything. In the movie, this scene is NON-EXISTENT.
Difference: In the novel, once Katniss and Peeta are on the train, they meet the red headed avox girl. In the movie, this scene is NON-EXISTENT.
There's so mannnny more issues with the Hunger Games movie and it's differences with the book that it would take all day to list them. Honestly I was not satisfied with the outcome and officially rate it 2.5/5 besos.
